New customs clearance duration needed
for clearance of airfreighted spare parts coming to Egypt
Please note that the clearance formalities of transit parcels arriving Cairo airport for vessels calling any of the Egyptian port has been transferred to the logistic center at Cairo Airport, which means that all shipments arriving through all airlines are gathered in one place instead of each airline separately.
Accordingly, the period of time needed for clearance until the release of shipments is 4-5 working days, not including weekends or official holidays.
Please bear that in mind when sending any spares to Egypt specially for vessels transiting Suez Canal.
On the other hand, Port Said Chamber of Shipping is disgruntled due to several complains received from shipping agents, and is in contact with concerned parties at airport customs in order to find a solution for this matter.
