The Suez Canal Economic Zone announced the arrival of ship catering services floating units at Port Said waiting area and the start of the necessary preparations to launch the new service within days.

This comes within the framework of implementing the directives of the political leadership to transform Egypt into a regional center for the provision of maritime services and ship catering, to become a leading center for energy trading, and to put Egypt on the global ship supply map.

Mr. Walid Gamal El-Din, Chairman of the Suez Canal Economic Zone, explained that the national committee entrusted studying and designing the new system for marine services for ship bunkering, which includes members of the Ministries of Petroleum and Transport, the Suez Canal Authority and the Suez Canal Economic Zone, has completed the development of technical and legal standards to start launching this activity, similar to the international centers in ship catering in Singapore, Fujairah, and Rotterdam.

Mr. Walid Gamal El-Din also pointed out that the MV “CRONUS” DWT 150 thousand tons, and the two supply floating units “ANDROS” with DWT (4 thousand tons) – “KYTHIRA” DWT (6 thousand tons) will arrive to the waiting area to start operating the service within days.

Engineer Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, handed over the first license in the field of practicing international companies for bunkering ships in Egyptian ports to Minerva Group, which starts providing its services from Port Said Port.

It should be noticed that the national committee entrusted working of the new system for marine services for bunkering ships, formed under the chairmanship of the Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources in accordance with the decision of the Prime Minister and includes representatives of the Ministry of Transport, the Suez Canal Authority and the General Authority for the Suez Canal Economic Zone, has offered international companies to apply for a license to practice the activity and included 4 licenses, including two in the Red Sea and the same in the Mediterranean, and that the committee reviewed ships, storage, and shipping of ship fuel that were available Port Said Port and then gave its first license to practice the activity.
