COVID-19 Update (Egypt resumes air traffic on the first of July, 2020)

Civil Aviation Minister Mohamed Manar announced that Egypt will resume gradually air traffic at all airports starting from July 1st 2020 with countries which have re-opened their airspace.

The controls for operating activities include the obligation of passengers to sign a declaration at the departure airport, and it is only necessary for travelers arriving from countries in which the health organization declares that the COVID-19 virus is circulating and reaches epidemic threshold, need to be tested before coming to Egypt and to present the PCR test result on arrival.

Passengers who may exhibit symptoms of Covid-19 during the flight will be “quarantined” in the back seats.

The government has also decided “to waive tourist visas from July 1 until October 31.

COVID-19 Update (Egypt extends curfew after Ramadan Bairam Holidays)

The Egyptian government announced that the curfew hours will resume from 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m till mid-June 2020.

The suspension of international air traffic at all Egyptian airports will continue “until further notice,” according to a decree by the Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly as further precautionary measures the country is taking to limit the spread of coronavirus after Ramadan Bairam holidays.

Also, all measures regarding the closure of stores, the continued closure of schools, universities, etc.. will continue during this period.

The Government of Egypt are expected to review all measures in mid-June.

COVID-19 Update (Egypt extends curfew, tightens COVID-19 measures over Ramadan Bairam)

On Sunday 17th May 2020, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly announced that from 24 – 29 May is an official holiday and all public transport will be closed due to Ramadan Bairam (Eid Al-Fitr).

The closures come as part of continued government measures to curb the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19).

During the Bairam holidays, the night-time curfew will start from 5 pm till 6 am, and will start from 8 pm till 6 am for two weeks following the holidays.

He also said it is anticipated that the country will gradually return to normal, with certain precautionary measures, from the second half of June.

 Today Thursday 23rd April 2020, The Egyptian government extended its nationwide curfew until end of May 2020 as part of its precautionary measures to limit the spread of coronavirus.

The Egyptian Prime Minister extended the hours of the curfew to be from nine pm until six am, as part of an effort to reduce overcrowding.

All measures regarding the closure of stores, the suspension of air traffic, the continued closure of schools, universities, and the reduction of employees in state-owned companies will continue during this period.

COVID-19 Update (Egypt announces Two-Week Curfew further Extension

 On Wednesday 8th April 2020, The Egyptian government extended its nationwide curfew until April 23rd as part of its precautionary measures to limit the spread of coronavirus.

The Egyptian Prime Minister extended the hours of the curfew to be from eight pm until six am, as part of an effort to reduce overcrowding in the hours before the curfew’s start time.

All measures regarding the closure of stores, the suspension of air traffic, the continued closure of schools, universities, and the reduction of employees in state-owned companies will continue during this period.

Egyptian Prime Minister also announced that Egypt’s Cabinet decided to deduct 20 percent from Cabinet members’ salaries for a period of three months to support the “Tahya Misr Fund” (Long Live Egypt Fund), and to help the initiative to support non-standard employment in Egypt, part of the government’s measures to limit the impact of coronavirus.

Businesses will be closed from five pm until six am during the week, and will be subjected to a complete closure on Fridays and Saturdays. All means of public and private transportation will continue to be suspended during curfew hours.

The business closures do not include bakeries, pharmacies, grocery stores.

COVID-19 Update (Egypt announces Two-Week Curfew

 The Egyptian Prime Minister have imposed a partial curfew from 1900 to 0600 daily, as from Wednesday as part of stricter measures to limit the spread of the coronavirus,

During the curfew hours, all mass public and private transport will be suspended.

All shops and malls will be completely closed on the weekend and will shut down from 5 pm to 6 am on weekdays, the prime minister said. Only supermarkets, pharmacies and bakeries will be exempt from the closure.

All government offices and public services, except for health offices, will shut their doors to the public during the curfew period. And a decision to limit the number of government employees going to work will also be prolonged until mid-April.

Shipping and logistics:
– The Suez Canal transit and all Egyptian ports are working normally.
– All containers terminals are working normally ,
– All vessels operation in Egyptian ports (Discharging, Loading) are carried out normally.

– Trucking of cargo is suspended during the Curfew
