Dear Valued Customer
In accordance with the new Egyptian customs law #207 that was put into effect November 2020 and its following related decrees; Advance Cargo Information (ACI) is becoming mandatory for all Egypt import shipments. Egyptian customs has announced a grace period from 1st of April 2021 till 30th of June 2021 , after which ACI will be strictly required for all import shipments and carriers will be obliged by law to validate ACI related information prior loading from the first load port.
Consequently, Exporters -or their agents- should provide ACI Mandatory References as follows:
1) ACID–Advance Cargo information declaration: 19 digit unique number.
2) Egyptian Importer VAT Number: 9 digit number.
3) Exporter Registration Number
4) Exporter Registration Country
In order to comply with the complete implementation of ACI, and as of 15th of June 2021, the aforementioned mandatory fields will be made available for customers to fill-in while submitting Shipping Instructions no later than 36 hours prior intended vessel’s arrival (ETA) at first load port enabling Carrier to validate ACI related information latest by 24 hours prior loading as required by law. The shipping instructions will be rejected if any of these references are missing on the shipping instructions.
With the complete implementation on 1st of July 2021, Carrier will strictly refrain from loading any shipment planned to be destined to Egypt at the first load port if ACI related data will be missing or failed during validation stage.
It is also important to highlight that according to the new setup, Egyptian Importers and their Exporters should register to “CargoX” since shipments’ related commercial documents will only be transferred electronically.
The dates in this document represent the current timeframe announced by the Egyptian Customs Authority.
