Admiral El Kady’s journey commenced with his graduation from the Egyptian Naval Academy in July 1955. His unwavering commitment to excellence propelled him through the ranks, eventually retiring as a Staff Rear Admiral in the Egyptian Naval Forces in 1984. His academic prowess shone brightly with a B.Sc. in Naval Science in 1960, complemented by a Master of Navigation in 1958. His dedication to knowledge did not end there; he attained a Master’s degree in Naval Science in 1960, demonstrating his relentless pursuit of expertise.
Engineering the Future:
Admiral El Kady’s thirst for knowledge led him to diverse shores, with a B.Sc. in Electro-Mechanical Engineering from Moscow University, USSR, in 1964, followed by a Master’s degree in the same field in 1965. His foray into Rockets and Cannon Engineering in 1965 demonstrated his versatile and profound understanding of naval technology.
Pioneering Success in Shipping:
But it was in the world of shipping that Admiral El Kady truly left an indelible mark. In September 1983, he founded Kadmar Shipping Co., marking the inception of a legendary legacy. His entrepreneurial spirit continued to shine as he founded Kadmar Travel Co. in January 2003. These companies have not only stood the test of time but have also thrived under his visionary leadership.
Champion of Maritime Industry:
Admiral El Kady’s commitment extended beyond his own companies. He served as the Chairman of the Arab Federation of Chambers of Shipping from 2004 until the present day. His leadership was equally felt as the Ex-Chairman of the Alexandria Chamber of Shipping (1999-2003) and the Ex-Chairman of the Egyptian Central Chamber of Shipping (2000-2005). His influence touched the very fabric of the Egyptian ports and harbor authorities.
A Man of Diverse Interests:
But Admiral El Kady’s interests span far and wide. He is not just a luminary in the maritime industry; he is also a dedicated member of the El Nozha Rotary Club in Alexandria and the Friends of Music Association. His active participation in various maritime and industry associations, such as the Egyptian Maritime Engineering Association, Arab Maritime Association, BIMCO, and FIATA, underscores his profound dedication.
A Visionary Speaker:
Admiral El Kady is not just a visionary in practice but also in thought. He has presented numerous papers that reflect his unparalleled understanding of maritime issues, including subjects like piracy’s impact on Arab trade, innovation in Arab ports, and the role of Arab maritime activity in Africa’s development.
The Blue Egyptian Freight Corridor:
One of his most significant contributions is the “Blue Egyptian Freight Corridor.” This visionary project has the potential to redefine maritime transport in the region, creating new opportunities and horizons.
