Dear Owners and Operators,
Further to the notice issued by the Suez Governorate Health Directorate – Quarantine Department dated 20 August 2026, KADMAR Shipping kindly requests your immediate attention and full compliance with the following requirements for vessels arriving from countries affected by disease vectors.
Mandatory Instructions
- Advance verification. Owners and operators must identify whether the vessel is arriving from, or has recently called at, a country affected by disease vectors before the vessel reaches Egyptian territorial waters or transits the Suez Canal.
- Disinfection before arrival. Such vessels and any associated means of transport must undergo appropriate insect-control treatment before arrival in Egypt.
- Supporting certificate. The vessel must present valid documentary evidence confirming that the required disinfection has been completed. The official notice refers to a Ship Sanitation Control Certificate or other certificate acceptable to the Egyptian Quarantine Authorities.
- Place of issuance. The supporting certificate should be issued at the port of departure. Where this is not possible, the treatment must be carried out under the supervision of the Quarantine Authority at the Egyptian port of arrival, and the relevant certificate obtained before clearance.
- Pre-arrival submission. A clear copy of the certificate must be sent by the Owner, Operator or Master to the appointed KADMAR port office well before arrival for review and presentation to the competent authority.
- Immediate notification. Any missing, expired, unclear or potentially unacceptable certificate must be reported immediately to the appointed KADMAR port office so that guidance may be obtained from the competent Quarantine Authority.
Documents and Information Required Before Arrival
| Required Item | Submission Requirement |
| Vessel itinerary | Provide the vessel’s recent ports of call and relevant trading history. |
| Sanitation certificate | Submit a clear copy of the valid Ship Sanitation Control Certificate or other authority-accepted evidence. |
| Treatment details | Confirm the date, place and method of disinfection and the issuing authority. |
| Master’s confirmation | Confirm that the original certificate will be available on board for inspection upon arrival. |
Non-Compliance
The Suez Quarantine Department has stated that previous notices were not adequately observed. Failure to complete the required treatment or provide acceptable certification may expose the vessel, its operator and local agent to delay, compulsory treatment at the port of arrival and applicable penalties.
Owners and operators are requested to circulate this notice to vessel managers, Masters and all concerned personnel and to coordinate with the appointed KADMAR port office sufficiently in advance of arrival.
Best Regards
KADMAR Shipping
