H.E. President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi inaugurated three major projects in East Port Said within the SCZONE: the expanded Container Terminal (SCCT/Maersk), the new Dry Bulk Terminal (Sky Ports), and the new Automotive Ro-Ro Terminal (Toyota Tsusho/SCAT). These developments significantly boost Egypt’s position as a global logistics hub.
East Port Said is now Africa’s largest container port and among the top three globally within the SCZONE framework, supported by USD 11.6 billion in investments since 2016. The national port strategy includes upgrading 14 ports and constructing 5 new ones.
Key Impacts:
- Expanded container capacity for +24,000 TEU vessels
- Efficient dry bulk operations with up to 12M tons/year capability
- Automotive terminal accommodating 22,000 vehicles
- Faster vessel turnaround, reduced port stay, and stronger transshipment competitiveness
These facilities greatly enhance operational efficiency for global shipowners and operators at the northern entrance of the Suez Canal.
